Here's a bit about my history:

Meteorology to Marketing

After I left the government weather service, I re-entered the air quality and consulting industry. And knowing how volatile this field can become, I decided to look into money making home business opportunities with low start-up costs.

Maybe a weather-related website would be just the thing.

I would need to spend considerable time researching and developing my concept to make good internet business leads.

This idea sounded good. But how could I even start such a thing? I soon found something called SBI!, short for Site Build it! that supposedly gets rid of all the technical requirements for you to follow. Its promotional website claimed it would do all the stuff that computers SHOULD do for you.

That's the way of the future, isn't it? And it might be fun, too. That's what I wanted.

I was afraid maintaining a website would be a lot of work that would eat up my whole week easily, just to produce internet business leads. You know, painful drudgery at times.

I did not want to bother with countless technical details involved in running the site; the company literature promised great relief from that, so I figured it was worth checking.

My university education was important to me, and so was the ability to tie it in to my next endeavour. I wish this type of thing were around when I was a student.

I wanted to think about using Science to sell. I figured maybe this was made for me because, as I told myself, "you don't have any items to sell on any website". Nobody would be willing to pay for air.

Fortunately Google started a program where they would put targeted ads on the site and pay me for clicks from interested viewers. And I evaluated the Google Adsense Program as soon as I could.

But there are always a few nagging issues to consider when looking at anything new and exciting.

Like, how do I know if any deal offered is any good? "How can I know..." is an even better question. Think about this for instance...

Suppose you had a goose that laid golden eggs. Would you sell it? Neither would anybody else. A lot of these "opportunity sites" you see claim that they do, but can you reasonably expect that?

I think you know. You have to ask who's pocket such a person is trying to fill.

But what about instructions to create your own goose? Without interfering with anybody else's goose of course? After all, I've got two of my own. Now, that's a different story...

How did I get into it?

When I think about it, what I was really doing was procrastinating the big step.
