STOP GLOBAL WARMING!

IT'S DESTROYING THE EARTH!!

Barry's Response - These bears have been experiencing a change in their habitat. Ursus maritimus, as they are officially known, are a vulnerable species, one that may become endangered.

Really? Vulnerable?

Why? Because of recent hunting policies and now global warming. As the thinking goes, global warming makes them travel further to their hunting grounds each year, it seems. As the trends continue, we may all soon ask why are polar bears endangered?

Why Polar Bears Wander Farther Every Year

The polar bears drift across the thinning Arctic skin out of necessity. Sea ice shrinks earlier and faster every year, making it harder for these hunters. As starvation rates rise, cubs disappear. The bears are getting smaller.

Global warming is partly caused by anthropogenic emissions and partly by long-term natural cycles like solar variability, despite carbon graphs and sad photos.

Once, polar bears roamed plentiful ice sheets, patting down floes strong enough to support a hunting empire. An indifferent sea scatters them like the Tower of Babel across a weakened ice. Some of us think it's a death by a thousand splashes with less food, longer swims, and more exhaustion.

Hunting, now mostly controlled, hurt populations long before climate change. Indigenous stewardship practices have managed bear-human relations for millennia.

Is climate change the only culprit?

As meteorology reminds us, Arctic ice fluctuates naturally. Climates in the polar regions are influenced by solar radiation, volcanic aerosols, and multidecadal ocean patterns. Models don't fully account for these forces.

So what's the conclusion? Be Honest, Prudent, and Action-Oriented. We don't want blind panic, we want reasoned stewardship, not reckless hunting bans. No sky-is-falling cries, just clear-eyed responsibility.

Polar bears are the poster animals for climate change. Yes, the ice thins and the seasons shorten. There's more to Earth's ancient rhythms, solar dances, ocean whispers, and human striving than meets the eye.

There are challenges for all creatures on a living, breathing, changing planet. Their fate doesn't call for despair, but for courage.

What's the role of meteorology and air quality science?

🌬️ It's a complex mix of greenhouse gases, solar radiation cycles, ocean currents (hello, Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation), and yes, human activity.
🌫️ The black carbon (from incomplete fuel combustion) reduces ice's ability to reflect sunlight (lower albedo), which speeds up melting.
🎯 Like Medieval Warm Periods and Little Ice Ages, natural variability has always shaped polar ecosystems. Nevertheless, we need to respond wisely, without blaming SUVs for everything.

Don't worry about ice-free doom: climate change has multiple drivers, and nature has shown resilience for millennia. Conservation of species like polar bears depends on balancing scientific integrity, environmental stewardship, and economic freedom.

Don't be afraid to think freely, explore deeply, and ask honestly.

Polar bears are mostly seen in Arctic and at the present situation due to the global warming they are at the stage of extinction. The ice regions are melting due to the effect of global warming and that condition seriously affects the existence of those polar bears.

From Barry - Sin, you may have nailed it: the Arctic ice isn't just melting, it's reorganizing the entire polar bear economy. To catch seals, they use sea ice as a floating platform. When you don't have it, it's like trying to fish in a pool.

polar bears

i love polar bears and i want them to stop becoming endagered.
says Stephanie Pallas of Ashland NE

From Barry - The love you have for polar bears warms colder hearts than the Arctic wind. Many organizations, scientists, and even skeptical thinkers want to stop them from going extinct.

WHY!!!
by: Anonymous

Polar bears are endangered because they hunt for seals and the ice is shrinking, so they won't be able to get any food, and also they will get hungry. There aren't as many polar bears any-more so the y might have to get extinct.

From Barry - Your instincts are sharp. The shrinking ice means fewer seals can access food, which leads to longer fasting periods and, tragically, fewer cubs reaching adulthood. Cold isn't enough for polar bears; they need hunting grounds too.

NO THAT IS NOT RIGHT

From Barry - I hear you, and you're right. It's possible to intervene, but with smart, science-based strategies, not just slogans.

polar bears
by: harani

Polar bears are endangered because of global warming. The heat gets in to their environment and warm up the snow which could kill them.

From Barry - Harani, you're right about the snow warming up. You're thinking in the right direction, but technically it's more about melting sea ice than snow on land. Arctic food chains are disrupted by warming air and ocean temperatures.

More stirct policies needed
by: asvd

we need to take more action than words. We are destroying one of the gods discovery. Soon our practices will destroy ourself one day

From Barry - Asvd, you hit a big nerve: words without action are like a polar bear without paws. Ecosystems could be protected with strong policies, grounded in honest science (not political trendiness).

QUICK, do this!

My dear web designer...please correct the spelling of words in the sentence of your homepage:
IT DISTROYING THE EARTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to: IT'S DESTROYING THE EARTH!!!!!!

We are all now known as global citizens as it obviously shows...each one of our actions affect the earth and all the living, including the polar bears...we have to accept that it is our responsibility to give our share to clean up the air, water, & grounds...we can't afford to be passive anymore. Peace!

From Barry - Pink, thanks for the spirited correction! ("IT'S" beats "IT"!) Your comment reminds me that climate conversation needs clearer language-and even clearer responsibility. From personal habits to national policies, global citizenship means respecting air, land, and water.

They Need to Be Saved
by: Ang

Let's not have another specie extinct because of our neglect! Supply more facts and increase awareness of their plight!

From Barry - You're right, Ang: we need facts, not fear. Some polar bear populations have declined, but others have stayed the same or even grown after hunting bans. Nature adapts-but only if we work with her, not against her.
